Archigram - Designing Buildings Wiki - Share your construction industry knowledge. Archigram was a UK-based art and architecture collective that came to prominence in the 1960s. As part of the burgeoning avant garde of the time, it aimed to explore extreme alternatives to urban design as a response to what it perceived to be the dullness and intellectual conservatism of modern architecture.
In addition to the key artworks by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Ed Ruscha, Richard Hamilton, Sigmar Polke, Martial Raysse and many others the book includes works of photography and avant-garde film, as well as what the critic Reyner Banham defined as Pop architecture, ranging from Alison and Peter Smithson's House of the Future to Archigram's Walking City and Robert Venturi.

The exhibition is dedicated to Instant City, flagship project of the English group Archigram. In the early 1968-1969 while the society of the spectacle announced by Guy Debord causes both rejection and fascination, the “instant city” embodies the desire for an architecture liberated from any anchor, a flying and aerial city that transforms the architectural situation.
